Had this the other night and it blew me away. Rich flavor, soft texture, a little sweet too. Way more comforting than I expected.
Not sure if it’s just me or if eel really does something different from other fish.
Anyone else love it this much? Do you usually eat it with rice or just on its own?

I love eel as well. I think it’s largely due to the common way it’s serve with a sweet soy glaze
The sweet sauce. The char. The fact that it’s seasonal, so you don’t get to eat it all the time which gives it a nostalgia factor too as a summer dish. The whole package. I usually eat it with rice, but not drowned in sauce.
Eel is best dish 😇
I’m excited to try this someday.
Feeling super-charged after this meal!!!!
We went to place in Korea that specialized in fresh eel. Another that specialized in fresh crab. Two memorable meals. I wouldn’t call eel “comforting” but I agree that you can’t beat grilled fresh killed eel.
With some rice and beer, it’s like heaven! 👌
I love grilled eel, though I prefer the spicy gochujang-based glaze rather than the sweet soy type. In my part of the US the Korean restaurants that serve grilled eel just use the pre-prepared Japanese kind since it’s commonly available here. So it’s always sweet soy glaze.
