Practice and more pops of color. The all white cookies add some color to them. For the ‘just married’ make them ‘Just Married’ and capitalize the cursive initials cookie too

Add white or a tiny bit of violet to the white icing. Make the lining follow the edge. Make the linning of a cookie and immediately flood it. Allow it to dry to make the letters. Use tissue paper and a edible marker to trace the letters.

Make your outline icing thicker in consistency and make a smaller hole on the bag. Lift up the bag to let the icing “fall” onto the outline. Don’t drag the bag on the cookie. Letting it fall into place helps create straighter and even lines.

On your 2nd pic, I can see that your flooding is the right consistency, but flood some more, so you dont see any divets or rippling. They are just a bit under flooded.

Let the first layer completely crust over before doing your lettering. You can use a food safe pencil to then trace or transfer the design. Then you pipe over it. If you mess up, you can carefully scrape it off without ruining your bottom layer.

    Keep it up! 💕

What everyone else said + stencils wherever possible for writing 🙂

Your icing seems thin. You want to make sure you whip it into almost a merengue texture, then add water to thin it out. Instead of just using thin icing.

Your lettering icing needs to be thicker so it holds its shape better. What kind of piping bags are you using?

  7. Lots and lots of practice. Get some ruled paper and practice doing straight lines on that. Pro tip: touchdown on the paper when you first start squeezing your bag and then lift it off and don’t let it touch the paper until you’re ready to end that line. Then you basically laying down the icing as it falls and not using the tip of your piping bag to “draw” that line.

Love these—I did personalized cookies for my upcoming wedding too! Check out mine [here.](https://www.reddit.com/r/DIYweddings/comments/1m8brtt/personalized_sugar_cookie_table_setting_placement/)

Your flooding looks overall good, but take note of what others have said. For the writing, it looks like your consistency should be a bit thicker. It should be able to hold it’s shape but loose enough to pipe it. Other’s have mentioned a bigger hole for the piping, try playing around with different sizes. You still want them to be legible after all!

If you want to practice, make up a batch of icing and trace out the cookie shapes onto some parchment. I did this and it helped a lot with placement and sizing! Good luck!
