A new Italian restaurant is opening in one of Cincinnati’s most historic spots. The Rookwood Pottery space, in the heart of Mount Adams, underwent massive renovation.“All these small elements have come together and at the end create this beautiful, beautiful tapestry of sound and light and color and smell,” said Roberto Peloni, executive chef and managing partner.The restaurant, Al’Lupo, will feature classic dishes and innovative ideas. “I just wanted to do something that was that would push the bounds of what, the city hasn’t seen yet,” Peloni said.The restaurant will be inside the historic Rookwood Pottery space, paying homage to the original building. The building has been vacant since 2022.From the original stained glass to Rookwood Pottery pieces on the tables, the restaurant is old meets new. “We opened up the space because the first thing you see really is this beautiful piece of history,” Peloni said. “Why hide it?”The restaurant will also sell fresh pasta for retail. Sono 513 will sell pasta and host pasta making classes for customers to enjoy.The restaurant is expected to open in October. It will be located at 1077 Celestial St. in Mount Adams.
