CLEVELAND, Ohio -– A Ben & Jerry’s Scoop Shop has quietly opened in the Hanna Building in the Playhouse Square District. It expands culinary options to include 28 flavors of ice cream and several cone choices including chocolate-dipped waffle cones.

A grand opening will follow in mid-September.

“What makes this store unique is that it’s an Ohio flagship,” said franchise owner Vivian Murriel. “This is the newest Ben & Jerry’s design. It was unveiled in January. It is the design for the next decade.

“This shop also has the largest mural in the entire Ben & Jerry’s system,” she said. The playful cow-and-theater mural stretches around nearly half of the 1,126-square-foot retail space.

Given the location, the shop will stay open until 11 p.m., to catch crowds leaving theaters.

“We feel like we’re serving so much of downtown Cleveland,” said Murriel. “We’re picking up people we didn’t realize it would attract.”

In addition to theater traffic, she is already seeing Guardians fans, who are walking to distant parking lots, stop by for a scoop.

Ben & Jerry’s Scoop Shop is at 1422 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland.
