I started this one in October 2024, from seed I saved from a store bought orange habanero. It was exclusively under grow light until ~February 2025, after which I started giving it a couple of hours of sun outside (California, SF Bay Area, 9b planting zone). First harvest was in mid April, and after that I went on vacation and the plant almost died (no one was watering it for two weeks and it was pretty hot). At that point it dropped every single leaf and I thought it was completely dead, but kept watering it for couple of weeks and it fully recovered. 4 months later – I got 2nd harvest of the year.

The 2nd harvest definitely seems to be way hotter than the first one. Normally I eat most of these raw, but this batch is almost unbearably hot (probably due to all the stress of recovering from a NDE, and being exclusively under real sun light through entire cycle + more aggressive fertilizer schedule).

Beautiful looking tree I’d try to keep her around as long as possible
