Judging today at the International Cheese and Dairy Awards
My 9th year judging here, always pot luck with categories, but an interesting day to see what’s happening in the UK cheese scene and beyond.

Amazing!
However, why TF isn’t this in a nicer venue? Looks like some old Soviet shit.

Can I ask how you got into this?! It seems kinda incredible that you get to be *tasked* with tasting cheese to find the best. 👍

I’ll volunteer for any of the goat categories. Followed by Any Gouda category.

How does one stow away the night before this event. I mean, once judges start arriving, I’d just blend in and taste cheese all day.

We just passed American Cheese Society’s judging competition! Their results will come out end of July. When do y’alls?

The thing about these is that plenty of small cheese makers won’t be able to participate due to travel and financial restrictions as well as other commitments. During my time as a cheesemonger, I got to try some of the most incredible cheese all over Europe. These people are just regular folks making incredible cheese. They are able to showcase their creations locally but that’s it.
