A local chocolatier told me pine nuts were better than yogurt or dairy to cleanse the mouth from burning chili peppers. He gave me about a teaspoon worth to eat after tasting his fairly spicy habanero chocolate. I've never had something like this cleanse my mouth so thoroughly from chili pepper heat than this before.

Makes sense: Capsaicin is fat soluble…

personally I like putting a piece of milk chocolate on my tongue and slowly letting it melt

Cashews are my go to when I’m eating something super spicy. I get the big bag from Costco. Totally worth it

The Food Theory channel tested a whole bunch of remedies and IIRC I think their winner was key lime pie (fat + acid + cold).

The Pepper X guy just did a video on this subject. He tried all the usual remedies that come from the internet. Everything from yogurt, milk, and ice cream to lemon juice, honey, and dish soap. He tried them with all kinds of hot peppers and abosolutely none of them worked with the exception of honey but even that only provided brief relief bedore the heat came back.

I personally like a bowl of full fat yogurt. Something like blueberry Noosa.

Alcohol works very well too since capsaicin is alcohol soluble.

I tend to have a peanut butter sandwich with milk

Coca cola once saved me from a traitor roasted jalapeno. The first seven were fine. The eight was so deadly. Tried bread, then beer. Nothing. A big glass of cold coca cola extinguished everything.

I don’t know about the pain while eating, but to avoid digestive issues: Avoid a totally empty stomach. Liquid remedies over solids. Consume before/during eating of spicy food.

Fat, sugar, acid, or any combination of these. Alcohol, specifically beer, works well. Also fruit juice, yogurt, ice cream.

Macadamia nuts are 72 to 75% fat content. Theoretically should work better and cost a little less.

But dont get me wrong, I love pine nuts.

That’s good, but keep in mind consuming too many pine nuts can give you pine mouth, which is more unpleasant and lasts longer than the burn does.

Gargling with hot water…as hot as you can tolerate. There will be a tremendous spike in pain while the hot water is circulating in your mouth, but the moment you spit out the volcanic water out of your mouth the relief will be instant.

The level of relief will depend on how hot the water is and how long can you keep the lava water in your mouth.

Try it before you knock it, hot water washes away the oils.

Bread made from wheat by a long shot. Like baquette or something. Tried yogurt, ice cream, milk, nuts and lots of other stuff and nothing beats bread.

Porridge oats and milk. Make it drinkable and ahead of time so the oats go soft.

I met the guy that owned Inferno Farms Hot sauce at a expo he was always doing the reaper pod eating challenge, went to his booth and he would eat a whole bunch of bananas to coat his stomach about an hour before the challenge. In my own spice challenge I have found heavy cream to a good job coating my stomach and help cool down the burn as I believe the fats in the cream pick up the cap and wash it away. No recommendations for the after effects in the bathroom although people have recommend toilet paper in the freezer could never tell if they were joking or not lol.

A shot of hard liquor. Capsaicin is alchol soluble. Take a shot, swish it around like mouthwash, spit or swallow.

Granulated citric acid. Works wonders when someone underestimates my hot sauce collection.
