Cranberry Sauce
1 lb. or 4 cups cranberries
2 cups water
1 1/2 to 2 cups sugar
Boil sugar and water for 5 minutes; add cranberries. Boil without stirring until all skins pop open. 5 minutes is usually enough.

Raw Cranberry
2 qts. cranberries
4 or 5 apples, skins left on
1 or 2 oranges
2 cups sugar
Peel oranges, then grind all together. Mix with sugar. Jello may be added.

Alice’s Chili
25 cent of chili beans – use half
3 cans tomato sauce
1 small onion
1 tbsp. chili powder
2 lb. hamburger. Fry meat and onion.

Noodles
Break 3 eggs in bowl. Add salt and 1/2 egg shell of cold water to each egg. Stir in flour to make a stiff dough.

Boiled Dumplings With Meat
2 c. flour
2 tsp. B.P. (Baking powder?)
1 tsp. salt
1 c. milk
Stir and drop in stewed meat by tbsp. Then do not put lid on until they have raised double in size about 10 min.
Editor note: I rolled my eyes at half of 25 cents of beans too, thanks granmammy.

Thanks! My Ma (great grandmother) used to make chicken and dumplings and that’s how she made her dumplings. I never had a written recipe so I’m glad to get the chance to try this.

Note that for the Raw Cranberry recipe that the cranberries get ground also in case the recipe doesn’t make that clear. My mom used orange jello, 1 4-6 serving recipe I think and less sugar. Walnuts are a nice addition. At this point (I’m in my late 60’s) this is a recipe that I’m not totally sure which was mom’s recipe and what my changes were. Frozen cranberries are ok. I don’t have a grinder so use a food processor.
I vaguely recall putting chopped celery in it also. Since I’m the only one who really likes cranberries and I like celery it’s up to me.
