That’s Amore Cheese is throwing its inaugural Burrata Festival at South Melbourne Market, celebrating Italy’s beloved creamy cheese.

Burrata Festival turns South Melbourne Market into an Italian wonderland where cheese lovers can dig into everything from traditional cannoli to creative burrata dishes. Food vendors will be serving up tasty creations featuring the decadent cheese, while local marketplace stalls offer artisanal Italian products to discover and taste.

Live cooking demonstrations are happening throughout the night, with chefs including Alejandro Saravia from Farmer’s Daughters and Luca & Marco from Supernorma whipping up burrata dishes in the Smeg Kitchen. You can watch them work their magic and taste the results straight from the demo area.

There’s plenty of entertainment with live music, roving performers keeping things lively, and an Italian Disco DJ spinning tracks well into the night. South Melbourne Market becomes the perfect backdrop for Italian culture through food, music and good times during this first-time festival.

VIP ticket holders get access to an exclusive lounge area with a dedicated bartender and all-you-can-eat pizza bar by Salim Gafayri. Wine lovers can check out the Wine Selectors Masterclass, learning how to pair the right drops with different cheese varieties.

Over 15 food vendors are taking part in Burrata Festival, from Abruzzo Lab’s timballo and pizzelle to Naturalis Gelato Italiano’s gourmet Italian gelato. Traditional options include Cannoleria’s cannoli and Made In Casa’s pizza and pasta, while creative choices feature UGO Burrata Bar’s porchetta focaccia and s’mores.

Local artisans are showing off their crafts through various South Melbourne Market place stalls, with Giorgio’s Artisan Cheese and That’s Amore Cheese offering handcrafted Italian-style cheeses. Other producers include Del Bocia’s artisanal butter, Mamé Cocoa’s chilled chocolates, and Bippi’s Italian chilli condiments.

Drinks are sorted with multiple bars throughout the market – Vino Bambino Lambretta Bar serving spritz and wine, Imbue Distillery mixing cocktails, and Stomping Ground pouring beers. It all adds up to a pretty comprehensive Italian food and drink experience.

That’s Amore Cheese is putting on Burrata Festival as a celebration of food culture, bringing together authentic cuisine, local artisans, and community vibes at South Melbourne Market.
