The West Austin Italian eatery offers fresh burrata with heirloom tomatoes, pecan-crusted trout, wild boar ragu with ribbon pasta and more.

AUSTIN, Texas — Every Friday, KVUE Daybreak shines a spotlight on Austin’s vibrant culinary landscape, showcasing the diverse flavors and cultures that make the city’s food scene so unique. This week, we’re taking you on a journey to Italy – no plane ticket required.

For 25 years, an Austin gem has been serving up authentic Italian dishes, transporting diners to the heart of Tuscany right here in Central Texas. This week’s Foodie Friday segment takes us to Siena Ristorante Toscana.

Driving through the picturesque hills of West Austin, you might just feel a familiar European charm. That’s exactly what Stan Adams envisioned when he opened Siena Ristorante Toscana a quarter century ago.

“We’ve had other restaurants before,” Adams said. “And some may remember the Brick Oven restaurants. But I started going to Italy and wanted to do something very authentic to Tuscany and the culture there. That was the start of it, but we fell in love with the architecture, the food, the wine.”

Stepping into Siena Ristorante Toscana is like being instantly transported to an authentic Tuscan farmhouse. The gorgeous high ceilings, exposed wooden beams and warm lighting create an undeniable ambiance perfect for any occasion, from a lively birthday party, a relaxed happy hour or a romantic date night.

Of course, no Foodie Friday would be complete without talking about the food – and the exceptional range of Italian wines that perfectly complement every flavor. We were fortunate enough to get an inside look at the bustling kitchen, where the talented chefs craft culinary masterpieces using their traditional brick oven.

We enjoyed a delectable spread, including fresh burrata with heirloom tomatoes, a perfectly pecan-crusted trout and a beautifully cooked steak. But the true star of the show -and a personal favorite- was the wild boar ragu with its fresh ribbon pasta.

If you’d like to experience the magic of Siena Ristorante Toscana for yourself, you’ll find the restaurant in West Austin, off Loop 360 at FM 2222.  If there’s a local restaurant you’d like to see us visit for a future Foodie Friday segment, let us know your suggestions!

Siena Ristorante Toscana is also participating in Austin Restaurant Weeks, with proceeds supporting the Central Texas Food Bank until Sept. 14.
