Pueblo’s Brooklyn-inspired pizza is now available in Pueblo West at the new Angelo’s West, 1021 N. Market Plaza, Suite 106, giving residents in the growing district a new pick-up and delivery option.
Angelo’s West opened July 28 and features the “same owners, same recipes, same ingredients, and same traditional style just like it is at the Angelo’s on the Riverwalk in Pueblo,” said Jada Massey, who owns the restaurant along with her parents Richard and Debby Foresta and partners Marco Palmeri and Jill and Allan Mata.
With the exception of a handful of seafood dishes, the Pueblo West eatery has the same menu as the Angelo’s at 105 E. Riverwalk, which opened 28 years ago. Richard Foresta’s Brooklyn recipes have a Pueblo twist, including locally made sausage from Gagliano’s and Pueblo chiles from Musso Farms.
Pueblo West residents may remember an Angelo’s West at 74 W. Component Drive, Suite 110. That restaurant was a franchise of the Pueblo eatery that didn’t last and is today home to a different pizza joint, E & J’s Pizzeria.
“This one is not in the same area. It will remain open for a long time,” Debby Foresta told the Chieftain.
“We felt there was a need for it out there because people just like to go home after work and not have to go out again. It is a wide open delivery area — all 81007 zip codes,” Debby Foresta said.
What’s on the menu?
The offerings range from pizza and calzones to strombolis, fresh pastas, sandwiches, salads and sweet cannoli.
“The most popular items have Pueblo chile,” Massey said, including pizza and pasta dishes. “We have a new pizza that is a very popular item called Pizza Romano.”
“It has our vodka sauce and pesto and Italian meats like prosciutto and mortadella. We use a 72-hour fermented dough and it is made in a rectangle shape that is huge — like 9 inches by 2 feet,” Massey explained.
Among the most popular dishes in Pueblo are the salads and the salmon.
“The salmon is just incredible, so it will be interesting to see if it will be just as popular in Pueblo West,” Debby Foresta said.
