
2019 Tenuta delle Terre Nere Etna Rosso San Lorenzo
Meaty bresaola, black cherry, and light green herbal notes on the nose. M+ acidity, black tea tannins present without being rustic. Very elegant palate, dark fruit leads, but it's quickly overcome by black soil and lingering asian spice notes. Really nice, great producer.

Love me some Etna Rosso, and this one is great.
Etna Rosso reminds me of a cross between a nebbiolo and a pinot nior, which are two of my top 3 grape varietals.
2018 Rose & Arrow Yamhill Close. It’s about as fine a sip of American wine as you’ll find. Snacking on a 24mo aged comte that tastes like straight up hay, onions, and hazelnuts it’s amazing

On holiday in Italy, and have some vin Santo in the fridge to have with some cantuccini. Yesterday we treated ourselves to some tignanello, which is always nice. The verdiccio was a bit meh, but the cheap sparkling red lambrusco was a very pleasant surprise, so I see more of that in our future

2016 Ovid Experiment consisting of:
90.47% Cabernet Sauvignon
6.63% Petit Verdot
1.79% Cabemet Franc
1.11% Merlot
I haven’t had a sip yet. Just decanted, letting it sit for a bit and having a Negroni while I wait.
That’s a banger
Ulreia Rapolao 2016. It goes without saying that this is a really well made wine and I think it’s at a good spot. But a bit heavy handed on the toasted wood for my taste. Lots of espresso and dark toast notes that IMHO takes away from the beautiful fruit and earthiness. I guess I prefer the lower end Ultreia Saint Jacques and Las Gundiñas. Anyway, still paired nicely with a Wagyu Denver steak and greens.

Drinking a 1993 Bernard Ambrose Corton Grand Cru Le Rognet. Very alive with fantastic underlying material but was clearly overoaked with new oak barrels typical of fucking Bobby Kacher as an importer.
1989 Malescot St Exupery with lamb chops (Costco). The tertiary flavors are wild
