[Music] Good morning. I’m Mari. Welcome back to Benny Orchards. Today I’m over here at the where the garden is. We’re doing some cleaning up, some pruning, deadheaded the vegetable and the flower mer like that and do some feeding. And also this morning the chef came from the kitchen and we be able to pick her some vegetable. gave it to her. I was so excited. The stevia stevia like the like what I put in my drinks down here. Okay. Like that. What happened when they get cooler and then you can hang them dry just like that upside down and it lasts you during winter. Put in your tea. These are gorgeous nature. So like we can make sauces with them. Oh yeah. And we have ancho pablano chilis over there. Nice. Nice. Nice. Okay, let me walk around and show you what’s growing over here. This is one of the rice bed. See that? There’s a lot of You see all this? Some of the merry go some of the stuff I need to be deadheaded. show you. And see this is a Japanese eggplant. I picked some of give it to the school already this at the kitchen. And over here is a cucumber. See this? And show you on this side. That’s I’m working on it right now. More cucumber. Persian cucumber. As you can see, I’ve been working a lot of fruit tree. Oops. This is bigs. A lot of I have to dead head it. Look at all this cosmo. More Japanese eggplant. So we see how’s it look like. Very very busy. And right here is camel. And you see I have to all this mildo right here. Got to clean all this up. And also something coming in here to dig the hole. I believe it’s uh because we by the foothill I believe we have a coyote. And right over here is more cucumber. And they they been digging the hole like we covered up. [Music] That’s the outside. [Music] [Music] Just let me show you over here. A lot of work. I don’t know. I can do all like I work on maybe three to four raised bed. once a week. This is tomato. This is sun gold tomato. I haven’t get a chance to train them to go up some more. And some here’s more. We have basil down here. We still have to plant more stuff in here. We have strawberry, zucchini, this is green onions, stevia. So we basically just that getting on new drip system before the one we had before it wasn’t installed right and and over here on this side let me show you go all the way around. So much they have to plan. See? So across the street, that’s the park. It’s right there. And you know what too? We have now I have another problem that I have is fire ant and I’ve been do some searching and I found this right here. This is this is is organic. [Music] They don’t hurt your plant or your vegetable. And I don’t know how good it work. It’s the first time I try it. You have to put pour all this. You see this right here? This powder all around your raised bed inside and the outside. And I can’t believe it. There’s so much fire fire ants here and it reached to the raised bed. So I just put them this morning but had to be dry. They said if not dry it’s not going to work. So so far I’m not sure yet. See all this. Look at this. Look at that. So all this I’m going to put some more. Oh my goodness. And Eli going to be in trouble. And [Music] right here is a grape. Basically, we going to train them go to uh the trellis. And over here there’s zucchini, some corn with done, this tomato, oregano right here. And right here is I’m doing three sister. We plant this few days ago. So what you do, you put the corn in first and you wait the corn to grow at least 6 in. See? So what happen is you put the corn in and you wait till the corn to come out at least 6 in and then you put the bean around the corn so they can climb. And then also you could put the squash all around it. So, and that’s what three sister is. So, I’m the first time I’m trying it. I’m so excited. Can’t see what you know to so I want to get this ready for to show the children what three sister is. And here we go. So much have to work on. So much disease. some of the stuff and since I’m not here all the time is it’s a lot of challenge and go in here. This is the orchard. So I plant a lot of fruit tree first of all not just fruit for the school and since this right wide open and the summer is very hot and that’s why I also add a lot of fruit And you go to the entrance over here. This is the orchard. And on this side right here we have lemon, lime, kumquat, tangerine, orange, um, and grapefruit And this side right here is we have apple, plum, peaches, nectarine. And we go outside and show you. So, [Music] oh, let me show you over here. Right here. This is This is electrical line which is already run right there. And right over here, right here, right there, is going to be a fountain. But we don’t have the budget right now for the fountain. But that’s going to be the fountain here. So, you can hear the water is running. So, we’ll see what happen. But at least we already have the lines already being connected. everything else. We just wait to get the fountain when we have the budget for it. And so there is we have pear over here. More apple. You have to have apple tree because this is school. Apple is the symbol of nutrition. So that’s what we need. And all my this projects is my son’s Tim. He the one put all the race bed together, dig the hole, planting all the fruit tree and basically him that make this project possible. And then my husband retired back in May and also he come here and help us. And so now this is our projects, three of us. And yes it is. So all this work is Tim my son. Say hi. He’s the one. Anyway, so this is the entrance to the garden. You see when it’s finished. So in the entrance we have seven pimentary. We have regular fuyu, three of them on my left side right here and giant fuyu, four of them over here on my right side. And you will see when we finished the entrance well on, you know, and here’s you go when you go around over here. Let me show you. This is all the way around. [Applause] We’re going to show you every we every time we post it, we’re going to show you little by little how this project start, how we started. It it used to be um a empty lot. I believe used to be a some type of building over here before and it’s a lot of challenge. And so we’re going to show you little by little how we started and how we get here and we’ll give you just like I said uh give you an update and the process and we always constantly weed just like over here me show you see like I haven’t have a time to dead head all this uh merry go and look at the weed you know you have to be weed free. You want to make sure, see all of this. And this one is apricot. And we have apricot over here. Plum. [Music] More apple. [Music] This one nectarine. plum and the one in the end is apricot. It’s a lot of challenge because I’m not here all the time. See [Music] And right here we have the drip sub drip system already set up. Uh we are going to get you know this is a whiskey barrel right here and show you. This is a whiskey barrel and this one is a blackberry. Basically, I’m going to train them around the fence over here so they can have blackberry. And right over here, the drip system already connected. I’m just going to get five biscuit barrel. And I’m going grow blueberry over here along uh this walking area right over here. And in a couple of years when they get big enough, uh, the kitchen can have enough to come and pick the blueberry and they can make like a blueberry muffin for the children. That’s a school. That’s okay. Don’t Yeah. And so there it is. So here you go. Let me show you all the way around again. It will be beautiful springs next year when the trees started getting bigger and more stuff we start to add in. This is where the trash is. But what we’re going to do is we’re going to put a compost bins right over here against the fence back here. And sometime when people walk they all trash and we had to pick up the trash.
