On Saturday, September 6th, this journalist had the chance to dine at Pulperia Latin Mediterranean Kitchen, which is located in the Theater District neighborhood of New York. Miguel Molina serves as its executive chef.

Appetizers

One’s culinary journey at this fusion restaurant (which blends Latin and Mediterranean flavors) begins with its appetizers. Their “Crispy Calamari” is tossed with fried plantains, onion, tomato and radish salad, as well as shishito peppers and chipotle aioli.

Equally delectable is their “Pan Con Tomate,” which is “Spanish-Style Grilled Bread with Tomato.” The bread is lightly- toasted coupled with their tomato spread, as well as garlic, salt, and extra virgin olive oil.

Their popular “Beef Empanadas” (consisting of olives, hard-boiled eggs, onions, scallions) and served with Chimichurri sauce were spicy and savory.

As an entrée, their “Picaña Bomba Rice paella” is quite exceptional. It features grilled picaña, nora sofrito, oyster mushrooms, pearl onions, piquillo peppers, beef broth and truffle aioli.

The meat was medium rare and tender, and the presentation was noteworthy. This is the ideal main course for a party of two.
