Tired of waiting for your local grocery store to carry the $10+ viral mango ice creams? I was inspired to try whipping them up at home and I’m happy to report that it was a success ✅ Inspired by real mangoes 🥭, these ice cream bars are almost too cute to eat (almost 😉) and they really do look just like the real thing!

Ingredients
2 ripe yellow mangoes
7oz condensed milk
1 cup heavy cream
1 bag yellow candy wafers (I used @michaelsstores!)
1–2 tbsp neutral oil
1 tbsp orange dry food coloring powder (aka @cheetos dust 👀)

Tools
🔸 1 mango shaped mold (added to my Amazon storefront – 🔗 link in bio!)
🔸 4 popsicle sticks
🔸 Piping bag with a piping tip

Recipe
To start, prepare a homemade mango ice cream recipe. I adapted one of my favorite recipes by @recipe_tin!

1️⃣ Blend the mango into a smooth puree.
2️⃣ Simmer mango puree in a small saucepan for
~10 min to reduce, then let cool.
3️⃣ Mix the mango puree with condensed milk.
4️⃣ Whip heavy cream until stiff peaks form, then fold into the mango mixture.
5️⃣ Spoon into molds, cover, and pipe in more mixture until full.
6️⃣ Freeze for 1 hour, insert popsicle sticks, then freeze overnight.
7️⃣ Melt candy wafers with oil, adjusting consistency by adding more oil if needed.
8️⃣ Dip frozen bars into the melted coating and let excess drip off.
9️⃣ Once the coating sets, dab orange food coloring powder to give it that “mango skin” effect.

What if I told you you no longer have to wait for your local grocery store to carry these viral mango ice creams because you can make it at home? First, you’ll start by making your own homemade mango ice cream using the ripest mangoes you can find. I think using fresh mangoes really enhances the intensity of the mango flavor and dare I say makes them even tastier than the original ones. While the mango ice cream is freezing up in the molds, I’m going to melt some yellow candy wafers with oil. From there, you’ll dip the ice cream straight into the chocolate. Lastly, I broke out my secret stash of Cheeto dust and I dabbed it all over with a paper towel. Wait, what? You don’t have a secret Cheeto dust mustache?
