First time using a crock pot and I used a slow cooker liner as well. The meal turned out good, but the liner was burned, melted and leaked a little even though I only had it set to low. I’m confused what did I do wrong?

You ate it after it melted into the food? HUH?
Edit: They didn’t know when they ate it lol

You don’t need liners. If your package of liners is melting it may be a flaw in the manufacturing.
Do not est food that has been exposed melted plastic.
If you want to clean your crockpot easily you can add a bit of soap and water and put it in low for a little bit. Then you can easily wipe away all the mess

Probably a bad batch of them. I don’t really bother with the liners because the crock cleans easy enough with hot water a good scrubber. If want a way to line it safely, use foil over plastic or see if you can find a silicone insert.

I personally think liners are a waste. I have never in my many years of crock-potting had an issue with cleaning the crock pot without a liner. Soaking is your friend.

People on here will downvote me but stop putting plastic in your crockpot. Idc if they say its safe, they said cigs were safe for a hundred years.
Just dont be lazy and clean your kitchen supplies after you use them
HatlessDuck
I don’t find them useful. They still leak liquids.

I wipe oil around in my crockpot before adding the food. Cleanup is never a problem.

Excuse my ignorance, I’m confused because i thought a slow cooker and a crock pot are the same thing. I’ll make sure to not use a liner in a crock pot in the future. Online recipes suggested the use of a liner with a slow cooker. I now see they had a link to a particlar slow cooker liner and that makes me think they were being sponcored.

What is a slow cooker liner? Whatever it is I don’t think it’s going to be very edible so you shouldn’t cook it into your food.
cicadasinmyears
You’re supposed to pour a cup of water into the crockpot, and then insert the liner, then put the food in it. Otherwise the plastic melts.
But I agree with everyone else who’s saying just not to use them. Once the crockpot is cool, fill it with hot, soapy water and let it sit overnight if you need to; there should be no trouble getting the food off.

Liners suck and are dumb.
If someone btought that to my potluck, I would never eat out of it.

Don’t use liners. All you need is a scrub daddy and some dish soap.
CarpalCaro
You didn’t do anything wrong! Probably just a weak liner.
Some people like to use liners. I haven’t, but I bet they come in handy for busy people or folks who struggle with lifting a heavy ceramic insert to wash it. Try going without the liner. I use cooking spray on the inside of my slow cooker. You can also try brushing with oil or coating with butter, like you would with a baking pan. And soaking it in the sink is part of the process sometimes. 😆 Good luck trying more recipes!

Plastic and cooking… We have all become so ok with it but we really should always try and avoid it.

Please don’t heat plastic around food. It keeps cancer doctors in business.

I don’t use them. Used it once and it did exactly that

Liner will melt without liquid in it. What did you cook?
Big_Teddy
I didn’t even know those liners were a thing, that’s wild.
Scary_Manner_6712
Gonna cosign what everyone else is saying: don’t use liners. I have never used them in 20+ years of using a crock-pot. Sometimes I will spray the inside of the crock with Pam if I’m cooking something I think will stick. That’s usually sufficient, and doesn’t risk plastic leaching into your food.
Wabi-Sabi_Umami
Mmm. Plastic.

I have had my slow cooker since 1984. Never used a liner. They are not necessary.
trudesaa
Is there a reason you use them? I would just go without if you manage, just so you don’t get any mikro plastics in your food.
Fleiger133
You won’t get any help using a liner here.
Liners aren’t foolproof. They do break, but its usually much less mess than having cooked in it directly.
occasionalrant414
If yoy are worried about cleaning up just let it soak on low with some bubbly water in it. If it smells, add some bicarb, rub that iand leave for an hour. Then wash as per normal.
I don’t like the idea of liners.

Why would anyone want to cook their food in plastic?

Why hasn’t anyone invented reusable silicone liners designed to fit standard slow cooker sizes?

Liners are a scam and a complete waste of your money. Dont be afraid to soak/clean your pot.

Crock pot condoms. No thanks 🤢

I don’t ever use them because if you spray the crockpot with non-stick cooking spray, it is super simple to clean. Like a 20-minute soak with hot soapy water, and you’re basically just wiping the sides with a dish rag.
