Oof. I can feel your pain – I literally just took mine out of the oven five minutes ago and realized I never turned it from 450 to 400 when I put them in. I’m pretty bummed out, especially with the left one, since these were for my parents and aunt… but I guess there’s always next time.
I’ve made a couple of charcoal sourdough Boules before!

Ok, this has happened in some way or another for most of us. Carve off the charcoal, like you are cutting the rind off a watermelon, and you’ll have bread that is good for making croutons or bread crumbs.
