Look at this disgrace. “Our freezing process sometimes breaks the packaging and causes freezer burn…” Sorry, after giving them a mulligan multiple times now, that nonsense doesn’t cut it. Fix your shit but you’re not getting my $300/month anymore.

Thank you, I had been thinking of ordering from them. They will not be getting any money from me either.

  2. Nowherefarmer

Out of curiosity what does 300$ a month get you? Lol

  3. Theoretical-Bread

I’m told they’re a scam that just buy discount grocery store cuts, and all the posts like these seem to track.

There’s no way I’d be letting someone else pick my steaks. Those look sad.

  5. School_North

Yeah I’ll never understand services like that

I can’t even imagine spending $300 on pieces of meat I don’t personally get to select. Of course they aren’t going to send the best pieces to a customer who ordered remotely and prepaid.

That’s pretty bad, the meat is still good but paying that much doesn’t make this ok, if I was paying 100 I would be ok with it and cut the outside off to make dog food or something but still

Butcher box is terribly disappointing. Find a good local butcher.

Sorry but I cannot see any value to “monthly meat” purveyors. Unless you live 50 miles from the nearest store and do not have a freezer. Still seems WAY overpriced. Just my opinion tho.

Honestly support your local farmer/ butcher. The freshest meat you will taste and your helping a farmer. Farmers are literally the back bone of the world. Alot of times you buy the cow and they butcher it for free.

If you’re gonna order meat online get it from these guys. I know them and have worked for them. They don’t play around and have steep standards.

  12. Just go make friends with a local butcher.
They are usually more than happy to chat and show off, by getting you the best steaks ‘from the back’. Sometimes they have cuts that they were going to take home, but will give you if you ask.
I got a skirt steak (which we have not seen for years) because I chat him up often.
I even taught him how to Sous Vide on the cheap. 🙂

  13. I tried it a few months, several years back. Half of the vacuum sealed bags ripped in every package.

I’m sorry any kind of subscription box post what, 2015? is just an idiot filter. I have no idea why anyone would buy this.

  15. real-BruceBanner

Local butchers prices by me are competitive with the chain grocery stores and the quality is leaps and bounds above. Plus supports a small business

  16. Bushido_Plan

Better to look at local farmers in your area if you have any that can sell you a quarter/half/whole cow. You’ll need a chest freezer. But $/lb, that is usually the best deal.

  17. MentalGravity87

Does butcher box treat their meat with CO? That is usually what creates the red look in market meat.

  18. DangleBob91

Yeah butcher box was good like 3 years ago but I think after they blew up during covid they just use whatever stock they can now

  19. IronicConundrum

I still have my subscription and use it but that’s because I get free ground beef for life.

  20. AmazonWageSlave

The process of cancelling my Butcher Box subscription alone was enough to make sure I’ll never have anything positive to say about them.

Me too…..and I havent even signed up yet! 😉
