HAZLE TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A budget-friendly event this weekend in Luzerne County is keeping families well-fed and entertained, all for a good cause.
The 17th Annual Bell’ Italia Festival is underway through Sunday at Hazle Township Community Park.
It’s put on by the Hazleton chapter of UNICO National, the country’s largest Italian-American service organization.
The festival features food and craft vendors, spaghetti and meatball eating contests, raffle baskets, free rides, and a playground for the kids to enjoy.

“I love everything Italian. My grandmother was Italian, the food is amazing, it’s just fun!” Hazleton resident Robin Lapp told 28/22 News.
“We try to give our community a nice, inexpensive weekend. The only thing you pay for is the food,” UNICO Hazleton Co-Chair and Co-President Donna Delehanty said.
Every dollar generated from the festival goes right back to the community through funding sports programs, scholarships, and more.
The event wraps up at 8:00 p.m., followed by fireworks, and continues on Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
