I say this anytime it comes up – It’s great used in a batch of Mexican shrimp coctel. The first time I made a batch with this stuff in it, i got tons of compliments from friends. I’ve also added it to mole negro and it works damn good since it’s already supposed to have a ton of Smokey charred things in it anyways.
There’s also a black salsa called salsa negra (duh), and this stuff was basically fine tuned to be added to it.
I see what you did with the sour cream and sriracha, and ask that you find some crema de salvadorena (or Honduran) and add this stuff to it with some lime zest/light amount of lime juice.
I feel like the haters just don’t know anything about real mexican food tbh.
