The restaurant scene in Jersey is constantly changing; it’s the one thing you can rely on about it.

One day, a restaurant is open, and the next day it’s gone.

Or a restaurant that’s been around for years and years, a staple in the community, will close out of the blue.

Popular Chain Restaurants That Closed in Toms River

We’ve seen it several times right here in Toms River, from Bahama Breeze, to On The Border to TGI Fridays, we’ve seen a lot of popular chains just up and close shop.

It’s a sad thing to see, but not unexpected; before getting into radio, I worked in the restaurant industry for years, and volatile is an understatement when it comes to describing that business.

However, sometimes something new comes along that catches our eye.

For example, when the Crystal Diner closed off 37 in Toms River, we were left asking, “What’s next”? Turns out, it reopened shortly after its closure as Gal Mediterranean.

It now appears as though the Mediterranean options are continuing to grow in Toms River, with a new Mediterranean spot getting ready to open up.

I first saw this on the Tri-County Scanner News Facebook Page, and had to check it out for myself, since it’s right down the street from the radio station. I’m thinking it could be a great new lunch spot.

ZaZa Mediterranean Coming Soon Near Highland Parkway

It looks like ZaZa will be the latest addition to the Toms River Mediterranean food scene.

Opening in the near future (fingers crossed), ZaZa is going to be located right off 166 and Highland Parkway, across the street from the Office Lounge.

Will Competition Improve the Toms River Dining Scene?

I do think it’s interesting to see two new Mediterranean restaurants opening within a half mile or so of one another (ZaZa and Gal), but hopefully the increased competition means better food.

When Will ZaZa Officially Open in Toms River?

No word on exactly when ZaZa will open, but rest assured, I’m rooting to see another local business do well in Toms River.
