A friend of mine just moved to Tajikistan and sent me a little something. No idea what the tins say, so this is going to be fun!
I mean, I could run it through Google translate, but what’s the fun in that?

Looks similar to my own recent Central Asian hauls! I’ve found a few brands that I quite enjoyed. Happy tasting!

Шпроты – pronounced shproti, is Russian for sprats. From what i can see you got two types of sprats from Baikal lake (see-through container and long one with lemon on it) and Caspian sea (second tin in the tower). The top large tin, Сайра, in the tower is pacific saury. You also got Сельдь – seld which is herring, long blue tin. Заливное – zalivnoe is a classic russian dish. You got zalivnoe with pink salmon.

Classic russian way to eat shproti is with slices of cucumber on top of black bread🤤 ooof it’s sooo good! Unfortunately, you can’t find black bread in the US, only in specialty stores 🙁
Enjoy!!!

Шпроты (pronounced shproti) are sprats in English, similar to sardines. Here is each can left to right:
The black on on the front left is Sprats in oil from the Baltic.
The tall can on top of the left stack says Saury fish from the Pacific Ocean.
The other cans in the stack also say Sprats, but that’s all I can read.
The next on in the top right is Herring filets in oil.
The middle on with a clear top is more sprats from the Baltic.
The stack on the right, assuming they are identical, are both pink salmon. From the picture I assume it’s in lemon and thyme, but that’s all I can read other than the company name.
