ALAMEDA, CA — The restaurant Ala Mediterranean Grill and Mezzes has permanently closed for business, the owners announced Saturday. The casual dining spot was known for its Mediterranean and Turkish cuisine.

In a statement posted on social media, the owners expressed their sadness about the closing, describing it as one of the hardest decisions they’ve ever made. They also conveyed their deep gratitude toward their patrons.

“Since the day we opened, this restaurant has been more than just a business to us — it has been our home, and you, our guests, have been our extended family,” they wrote. “Every smile, every conversation, and every shared meal has meant the world to us. Watching families gather, friendships grow, and celebrations unfold within our walls has been the greatest reward of all.”

The restaurant, which was located at 1504 Webster St., had indoor and outdoor dining areas and a menu featuring lamb and grilled vegetable kabobs, fried eggplant, falafel, salads, baklava and a variety of other offerings.

“It’s such an inviting and beautifully decorated space, and the food is outstanding,” one Instagram user wrote in a post about their experience there in April.

Facebook users responded to the news of Ala Mediterranean’s closing with comments such as “I am heartbroken. We loved your food and your incredible service. You will be truly missed.” Another person wrote, “You became one of my favorite restaurants in town. My husband and I will miss your great hospitality and amazing food!”

In their statement, the owners did not provide a reason for the restaurant’s closing. Patch reached out to them for a comment, but they did not immediately respond.

“We will always carry with us the joy of knowing that we were able to share a piece of our Mediterranean heritage with this wonderful community,” they wrote. “From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for welcoming us, supporting us, and allowing us to be a part of your lives.”
