I'm curious when I should harvest, first year growing cauliflower and this one plant is HUGE(like basketball huge, very surprised) The others…not so much though.
I also wonder why the little leaves everywhere or does that mean it's not ready? Stress? I will probably plant them a little farther apart next year. It does look like it's separating more and we have warm weather in Chicagoland area for a week and I don't want to let it go too far.
Where do the experts say!?

I’d say harvest now! I don’t know what those light worm looking things are, but if it gets any bigger it’ll start to bloom. Picking late is worse than picking early for broccoli and cauliflower!
The light purple/white “hairs” you’re seeing are trichomes (tiny hair-like outgrowths of the plant tissue.)
These help protect the plant, totally safe to eat. Nice cauliflower!
Yes, harvest now! What a beautiful cauliflower! We’ll done!
I would harvest now because it looks like it’s going to start to flower/bolt. It’s beautiful!

2.25lbs of florets If only the other 2 plants had produced an amount worth saving…so goes the gardening. Lol
