I found this at a Goodwill store today.. I already have one and I really like it, but at $12 I couldn't resist.. I may give it as a gift for someone.
I plugged it in and the light comes on, I guess it would need to do a factory reset before I could connect to it.

Oh you’re the 2nd I’ve seen in this subreddit with such a find. I really need to stop by a few Goodwill stores. The Breville app should work with your Joule.
Wow! I would never buy any electronics at Goodwill. What are the odds it actually works?
I found one in a free box in my neighborhood 5 years ago – my mom still uses it!

I did a Factory Reset, just in case.
It connected to the app no problems. It did 3 firmware updates, and is working great,,,
