Italian food companies Gennaro Auricchio and the GranTerre Group have formed a strategic partnership to expand their presence in the Spanish market.

As part of the agreement, GranTerre’s subsidiary, Caseifici Granterre, will acquire a 40% stake in Hispano Italiana de Charcuteria, a Spanish importer and distributor of premium Italian food products. Auricchio will retain the remaining 60%.

This collaboration aims to boost the distribution of Auricchio cheeses and GranTerre cured meats and aged cheeses, particularly Parmareggio Parmigiano Reggiano, throughout Spain.

This move will enable GranTerre, with its €1.7 billion turnover (including €506 million from international markets), to directly manage its Spanish distribution, adding to its existing branches in Germany, France, Austria, and the United States.

Management

Costantino Petroccia, former sales manager for GranTerre in the Iberian market, has been appointed to lead Hispano Italiana.

His role will be to enhance the company’s position as a key distributor of high-quality Italian food products, focusing on a dynamic, multi-channel approach while respecting the distinct identities and traditions of both groups’ products.

Alberto Auricchio, CEO of the Auricchio Group, stated, “I have always believed there are strong cultural and value affinities between us and the GranTerre Group, in our business approach and our dedication to quality and, at the same time, innovation, in such a traditional and artisanal context as the one in which we both operate.

“We see significant opportunities for long-term development. I believe that together we will be able to best respond to a market, the Spanish one, which sees in companies like ours a concrete offering of unique and distinctive products.”

Maurizio Moscatelli, CEO of the GranTerre Group, added, “The Spanish partnership with Auricchio represents a significant step for our Group’s development in the Iberian market, which is showing growing interest in premium Italian agri-food products.

“Our growth in Italy and international markets continues rapidly, and now, thanks to Hispano Italiana, we believe we can accelerate this growth in Spain as well, enabling GranTerre to present itself directly to Spanish customers as the leading source for premium Italian PDO hard cheeses and cured meats.”
