Brought back for me from Paris. What should I do with them? I know these are typically eaten heated, right?

Very cool! Yeah, I hear mine in a pan and put them over rice.

I brought three of these home from France. My favorite was heated in a sauté pan, fresh spinach wilted in the butter, and the whole lot turned out over roasted potato wedges.

Yeah sardines with butter you pretty much need to melt the butter at a minimum (can just put the whole tin in hot water for a while) and then you probably want to do something with the butter. I like to just put the whole thing on white rice and fold it in gently, breaking the fish into more manageable pieces. The suggestions to put them in a pan and/or to use potatoes instead of rice are both totally reasonable. You could also do something with some nice toasted bread.
Honestly it’s pretty hard to screw up just don’t try to eat them cold or the butter’s just going to be weird.
