Can someone explain to me how this meal is 950 calories? The ingredients all seem relatively low so 950 surprised me. What am I missing?

I can’t see the rest of the ingredients in your screenshot to see what’s in the dish.

Regardless – I’ve done the math for a lot of recipes, and in my experience, they often come out to less calories than stated. However, it can be hard not knowing all the brands they use for packaged products.

I find they overestimate the oil/butter usage (you don’t even need any for a large % of recipes that call for it if your pan is nonstick), and then I personally use keto/low fat swaps for things like tortillas, bread/buns, sour cream, and mayo. I know not everyone is keen on doing that considering the price of the box.

Your best bet is to just manually log all the ingredients in a recipe builder like MyFitnessPal if you want accuracy. But you’ll still be stuck on various pastes, dressings, etc. they provide. I can never figure out their Tex Mex paste, cream base, etc.

From my quick math I’m not exactly sure maybe they are being generous with it, I’m getting around 880 for it. Give or take 20 calories for variance in what I found on Fitbit for calories

370 for pork, 200 for the cooking oils and butter, 160 for the rice, 100 for the sour cream and the cheese, let’s say 50 for the veggies which is being slightly generous.

Honestly I have never found the butter to add that much and if you use light sour cream instead of full fat that’s an easy 100-150 calories saved out of it.
