A pizza shop in Italian Village is gaining popularity after a content creator’s “one-bite” pizza review on social media.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — A two-month-old pizza shop in Italian Village was forced to close early on Monday after a social media video that generated thousands of views and shares led to Artisan Pizza Café running out of food due to overwhelming demand.

Artisan Pizza Cafe is owned by Jasmin, a Tuscany-born entrepreneur who combines her Italian and African heritage in her handcrafted pizzas. She earned a higher-than-average score of 8.1 in Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy’s famous “one-bite” pizza review.

The review was posted to social media on Monday, and it generated such immediate demand that the restaurant was forced to close that same evening because it ran out of food.

“This guy [is] amazing,” Jasmin said about Portnoy’s unexpected visit nearly two weeks ago.

The restaurant’s sudden popularity extends beyond Portnoy’s endorsement. Local Columbus food influencers on social media and neighborhood residents have also praised the establishment.

Will Chiraz, an Italian Village resident, expressed his enthusiasm for the pizza shop.

“We came here to try it and it ended up being great, my favorite pizza in Columbus… and I’m from New York, so I love pizza. I love trying new pizza,” Chiraz said.

Jasmin brings authentic preparation methods to her craft.

“I grew up literally eating everything from scratch,” she said.

The menu extends beyond pizza to include a variety of lattes, milk teas and desserts. The shop is closed on Tuesdays so that she can prep her ingredients and dough for the week.

“Pizza is my world. This is what I love to do and this is what I enjoy,” Jasmin said.

Despite the challenges of managing increased demand and longer wait times, Jasmin remains committed to her craft.

“It’s worth it to wait,” she said, acknowledging that some waits may be longer than others depending on demand as the restaurant works to keep up with its newfound popularity.

“I have a lot going on, but I’m still well to do, because this is what I love to do,” Jasmin said.
