3rd year in a row canoe camping in the Sierras and wanted to do it big. We had 14 people so picked up 3 prime thiccc bois from Costco.

Grilled up over fire and charcoal plus grilled corn, mashed potatoes, and homemade chimichurri. No real money shot but obligatory dog pic.

A little more well done than I would have liked, but I was worried about them being too rare with them being so thick and for so many people and prioritized a good crust.

Looks great, what a treat while camping.

  3. My trick for large cuts of meat for camping is sousvide or smoke to desired temp a few days before and vac seal. Dry it off and sear it at camp and by the time you get a good crust it’s warmed back up and perfect. Bonus points for leaving a griddle with compound butter over the fire and folks can sear off pieces to their desired doneness.

Dog be like …..y’all know my nose works 10,000 times better than yours, right? Dis some bullshit.

    Assuming he got a bone.

……usually it’s beanie weenies when I camp. Well done 👍

I’m sorry sir but that lab is broken. I’ve never seen one ignore the grill, especially when there’s some Flintstone style steak action. Oh and very nicely done with said steaks.

Legit question: What is the appeal of a tomahawk steak? Why not have a regular ribeye, especially when camping?

What’s up with the corn? lol. Steak looks great though.

That chimi on top is pro but those mashed potatoes are a crime

Absolute beauties! Those are some of the finest steaks I’ve ever seen. So good, you could die happy while eating one
