Do Americans not eat sausage rolls? These are just sausage rolls

  3. Eroom2013

Pillsbury sells crescent rolls specifically for this.

  4. JustHerefortheAwww

I make these but use string cheese and homemade bierock dough. Legit one of my favorite meal preps.

  5. lolalovehoney

If you can get it in your area, try it with conecuh sausage next time

  6. “Adult” had me looking for the mushroom tip

  7. Royale-w-Cheese

Claire Saffitz has a killer recipe for this, we make it every NYE

  8. Deliriousious

    Mate.

    This is a sausage roll.

Pigs in Blankets is simply a tasty sausage with bacon wrapped around it. I usually do it with a chipolata sausage, some smoked streaky bacon, and a little basting of bbq sauce.

I’m sure they’re good, never thought to add cheese into it, but this is a sausage roll, a sausage in puff pastry.

Where I’m from this is just a sausage roll/hotdog. The blanket in “pigs in a blanket” refers to bacon. So you need to wrap the sausage in bacon, what you do with it after that is up to you. Make it a sausage roll, make it a hotdog, eat it as is. But the bacon is essential.

I would recommend adding everything bagel seasonings on top, total game changer. There are a few different type of flavors as well, such as Asiago cheese and jalapeno

  11. cheeseburgerwaffles

Pigs in a blanket are adult pigs in a blanket

  12. Sandindalespocket

I realize this is barbarically American. I apologize for all of it.

  13. IkkeNogenSpeciel

In Denmark they are called: Pølsehorn! 😃

  14. BCTHEGRANDSLAM

That’s a handheld Toad in the Hole.

Like a Frog-et in the Pocket

  15. I like how you said adult crescent rolls and put cheese on it. Like they’re not appetizers that adults already eat, and somehow magically putting a slice of lunchmeat cheeze on that thing magically made it not a child’s meal.

  16. BeKindBabies

Wait til you get your hands on a savory kolache.

  17. Did you have to adjust cook time or still the same time as the package calls for? Also, Pillsbury Grands?

  18. DesperadoFL

A lot of britishers in here really confused that there’s other cultures on the planet that might do things differently to them on occasion

  19. exomachina

I thought pigs in a blanket was breakfast sausage wrapped in a pancake.

  20. aaactuary

I make these often. Both the US way and UK way.

  21. BenderFtMcSzechuan

This is just hotdogs with extra steps baking the bun onto it lol but that said would pigs in a blanket be mini hotdogs idk now

  22. DredZedPrime

We regularly do this for dinner, using the Pillsbury crescent dough sheets. The kids love em.

  23. YogurtTheMagnificent

I have never seen a US type pigs in a blanket prepared with cheese.

  24. BoutiqueKymX2account

That’s not pigs in blankets. That’s a sausage roll using a hot dog instead of proper pork sausage.

Pigs in blankets are pork sausages wrapped in bacon and cooked

Hey OP, Pillsbury dough is a solid shortcut, no shame there! But if anyone wants to go full adult and actually make the dough from scratch, here’s a simple recipe that works for me:

    2 cups warm water
    1 1/2 tbsp yeast
    2 tbsp honey
    1 tbsp salt
    2 tbsp oil
    4 1/2 to 5 cups whole wheat/white flour

Mix yeast, water, and honey, then add salt, oil, and most of the flour to form a soft dough. Let it rest 10 minutes, knead a bit, divide into pieces, wrap hot dogs, rest 10 minutes, then bake at 400°F for 15-20 minutes until golden.

Homemade or store-bought, they all taste great!

  26. cariadbach64

Those are sausage rolls, pigs in blankets are wrapped in bacon

  27. gnarkill3332

i call that a “west virginia wellington” (I just made that up, you can use it, internet)

  28. I used to have this doughnut place near me that made these, but bit sized, and you got a big back of a dozen, fresh and greasy, for like five bucks. I miss those days.

  29. Zala-Sancho

I thought pigs in a blanket were breakfast sausage wrapped in pancake??

  30. This would have been much better with an egg wash

  31. peetzapie

So weird to see a hot dog called that. In the northeast they are pork and rice stuffed cabbage rolls. Aka Halupkies.

  32. Tuggerfub

the word “adult” paired with any kind of sausage is cursed af

  33. Huongster

Man. I miss my school lunch ones so much. They were so good and the spice on sausage was excellent

  34. SpaceToaster

They’re better with little Smokies and croissant rolls cut into thirds and wrapped around them. Being bite-size let’s you eat more without feeling guilty lol

  35. Loose_Replacement846

use cheddar and crescent rolls slice the dog stuff the cheddar in the slice roll it up and call me

  36. Samurai_Stewie

I use mini-sausages and put them in crescent rolls that are sliced in half length-wise.

  37. Foxxy12012

Pigs in blankets are pork sausages wrapped in bacon. This is a sausage roll with cheese.
