I noticed my pellets INSIDE the hooper closest to the chamber were starting to smoke. This video was when it was about 375 inside on the way up to 425 for some wings.

I noticed mine does this when I don’t dump the burn pot after every cook and/or if the bottom of the pellet bag has a lot dust when I dump it in

Clean your burn pot
If it gets clogged with clinkers, the combustion fan has nowhere to exhaust but the auger tube

Dump the hopper. Vacuum/feed out any remaining pellets. Then use an air compressor or reversed shop vac to blow any remaining dust out of the auger. The only time I’ve had this happen there was a lot of excess dust under the auger and it was starting to burn back l.

Check your air intake and your smoke exhaust. If there isn’t enough air coming in the smoke can backflow same with the output. I had this before doing a full clean out and that seemed to fix the issue.

This will also happen when the creosote, ash, etc builds up on the chimney vents (where the chimney attaches to the smoke chamber). If the airflow out the chimney is restricted, then the smoke will take the other route out, through the hopper. Especially noticeable at those higher temps, requiring higher airflow.

Mine does this for a period of almost every use. I assumed it was normal. I’ve never had it burn up through the auger or anything like that.

There is a gasket on the bottom of the Pellet bin. You might look to see if it has been damaged. Good luck!

Mine did that when the louvers in the cook chamber were plugged with grease and soot, causing an airflow issue. I cleaned them out and the problem went away.

Clean the pot, make sure no pellet dust gets into the hopper, and make sure that the pit vents are clear. That third one I saw pop up on the Recteq sub recently.

I had obstructed chimney that caused mine

You need to keep the pot clean. It looks like your pellets are burning back through the feed tube
