    As much as I enjoy the jokes, you’ll have best onion integrity if you cut from pole to pole on the onion in long strips. That way you rupture fewer cells and cut in the same direction as the onion’s main fibers. That and consistency in the cut shape/size are kinda’ important for even cooking.
