They’re dairy free if that changes anything.

  2. TechyMama

That’s $2.50/ cupcake. More than fair, ic anything slightly under. I’d probably have done $40

It seems to little to be honest. I know price depends on location but it seems like they should be more. These are beautiful! If I had ordered them I would be thrilled!

  4. pandicorn87

For dairy free it’s fair. I would’ve charged a little more myself.

  5. miloandneo

More than fair. I wouldn’t have questioned $35-40

  6. Pleasant-Bass4449

Thats underpriced actually. Should be at least $3 per cupcake. Especially if they are dairyfree.

  7. BongDong69420

    Yeah- you are undercutting yourself.

  8. bloodredyouth

How big are these cupcakes? 3”? 5”? Any special flavors?

  9. stuckhere-throwaway

I can’t tell what size they are but yeah that seems low. I would work on better consistency with your piping and toppings however.

$30 feels fair for a dozen homemade cupcakes like these.

Yeah I think that’s more than fair. Especially if you’re just trying to get your name out there. The best thing is to figure out your cost and then base prices off that. Don’t forget to add your labor too, always make sure to pay yourself for your timr

  12. nevaehorlleh

I feel like that is too low. Maybe between $35-40.

I am curious why they aren’t uniform though. By uniform I meant why do the toppings have different amounts on the top and bottom ones.

Cupcakes aren’t just about ingredients-it’s the time spent mixing, baking, decorating, and cleaning up afterward. For someone doing this at home, $30 barely covers the effort. They look neat and consistent, which takes skill.

I just got a box of vanilla for $5 at Kroger and they were AMAaZiNG lol

  15. Routine_Drummer_1049

Did you make the badder? Or box mix

  16. OneQt314

Hate to say this, but unless you’re established, you need to price slightly lower to attract new and get loyal customers. The key is to get your foot in the door.

I think $30 is competitive without underselling, depending on your location & expenses.

I always heard..take cost of your ingredients and multiply by 3 or 4 (depending on cost of living where you are) this will account for your time and mark up. Since these aren’t crazy super decorated (they look lovely, but simple) you could aim for the 3? But really that’s up to you…how much do bakeries charge in the area for similar? If you dont have the overhead of a business you can charge less. But be fair to yourself. 2.50 a cupcake is a steal.

  18. JetPlane_88

That’s a fair friends and family price

For outside clients you could charge $40-$50 for those depending on your geographic area.

  19. Melancholy-4321

How come no one ever says where they are when they want pricing advice, that will drastically change answers

  20. Acrobatic_Motor9926

I would not pay that much but it is reasonable for those unwilling or unable to bake their own or buy from a big box store

  21. Interesting_Flan760

That seems very cheap to me.

  22. simplsurvival

I just made a pretty elaborate cake for my bfs moms birthday, it was SO MUCH WORK. If you’re baker of any flavor (see what I did there😉) I respect the HELL outta you. But yeah I’d pay 30, maybe even 40, for those delicious looking cupcakes. Might eat like 3 of em tho…

  23. RichPhart

Honestly, I would pay 50. I got a dozen like this from a local bakery and paid 75…they tasted like ass though…

  24. Scharmberg

I’m sure people will buy them for that price maybe even more, personally no way in hell I would spend that on cupcakes though I’m not a big cupcake guy and tend to not even bothering making them for that reason.

  25. becksEO

Totally fair! I looked up the average price, which was 27 to 36 USD for a dozen. I would say the piping on the second strawberry from the left is perfect. Keep practicing your craft, and 40 USD would be just fine as well.

  26. _exposure

I’m going to go against the majority consensus here, I think these cupcakes look really great for homemade but they have inconsistencies that shouldn’t be priced the same as more established bakeries. There are different amounts of frosting on each one, some that were piped wider than other ones, and the same flavors should have the same amount of berries on top.

Are they made from scratch? Box mix and frosting from the store can also be dairy free so it wouldn’t be fair to charge $42 for that, for example. Providing more information would allow people to form a better informed opinion. Whether $30 is a fair price or not.. 🤷‍♀️. But I think that more practice and fine tuning of your craft are needed in order to charge whatever the competitive going rate for cupcakes is in your city.

Think about it this way, if you had $42 to spend on a dozen cupcakes, would you choose to order from Georgetown Cupcakes or your bakery? Your cupcakes are cute, once again, so please don’t take this the wrong way. Just some food for thought. 🩵

  27. Afraid-Acadia-3306

Yes! Always calculate how much you’ve invested in materials + time + effort. That should help you come up with a price. It should never be, for example, the same amount you spent on materials/less than you spent on materials + 10 cents for your effort. That’s too little.

  28. Traditional_Bake_787

If they there is $30 of taste then they are worth it! They look yummy!

  29. figgypudding531

They’re not very professional-looking. The toppings are inconsistent, the piping should be more even, and the greens should be removed from the strawberries. I guess if they taste really good it could be worth the cost

  30. mytextgoeshere

I spent like $60 on a dozen cupcakes for my daughter’s last birthday.😢

If I go to a coffee shop, Vancouver, and get a small danish.

    Seven bucks
