8 oz filet from Outback. Ordered it medium rare and it came barely rare. Was actually very good though.

Good lord….who killed it?
lukkynumber
I wouldn’t but that’s just me.

I’d prefer not to. I love medium rare. That’s just way too much moo.

You can…. the real question is… do you want to? I would not. Sorry.

Sorry, but no, I can’t stand the texture

Absolutely. I’ve eaten steaks at that cook level and cooked less. Fantastic!

Eh, like I’ll eat steak tartare so I’m not really bothered by it in that sense but I also wouldn’t be happy with this. Personally if I was cooking this fillet I would RS/SV to the warm side of rare so that fat could render a bit but even just in a pan I would still want to cook this longer. I doubt anything past the first 1/8 of an inch of that got above 100f

I would, but prefer more cooked.
TBH your comments scream “LOOK AT ME I EAT BLUE STEAK” more than they just say “this is good”
That can be said a lot about people in the community. But your comments are so drenched in desperation I cant take this shit serious.
You like the steak or you dont. Dont fake it
Environmental_Job864
Could I? Yes. A little bit rare for me to enjoy.
zeePlatooN
I could… I probably would… but if I were making it I’d aim for closer to mid rare minus VS blue rare.
gokartninja
Could I? Sure. Would I prefer it properly cooked? Yes
XBL_Tough
I have eaten them like this before but I prefer it a little more cooked.
Not my first choice. Usually too chewy. Fat not rendered properly and, of course, fat is flavor.

This is my dream rare at a restaurant. When ordering I always say ‘as rare as you’ll give it to me’ and never get anything this close. Jealous.

Anon_be_thy_name
That’s looks closer to blue then rare, from what I can see.
Now I will say, I do eat blue and do enjoy it, but it’s only at one specific restaurant and that’s because the chef there seasons it to perfection, I don’t know what he does, but the seasoning is a perfect mix of sweet and spicy while still allowing the flavour of the steak through. But I also have to be in the mood for blue steak.
I usually prefer rare myself, but not woth a a team this thick. Was it warm in the middle?
cyclorphan
Absolutely. Tenderloin has little or no fat to render, so no need to exceed rare. This is pretty blue though.

A good rule of thumb I use for Outback is to order to a temp above what you like and they’ll usually cook it exactly how you ‘actually’ want it. They undercook their steaks on purpose so if someone sends theirs back all they have to do is throw it back on the grill for a couple minutes. I order medium and it comes out medium-rare every single time (which is how I like it). Might just be my location though.

If I buy a real good prime I’ll cut me a few raw slices and just hit it with a little salt. I’d be in on that.

It came on a plate like that? Just a bare assed steak on a bare assed dirty plate? I’ve seen better meal presentation in a fucking Mississippi Waffle House.

Could I? Yes. Would I? No way.

No, too chewy and not rendered down enough
