    (My mom once commissioned a drawing from a photo from a young artist who is a family friend. They did a similar thing, presenting a clearly amateur sketch as the finished product before showing her the real one. Now they are both framed on her wall next to each other!)

    This is adorable and I love the time and attention you give to your Nephew to make his birthday special. Reminds me that growing my birthday would always get lumped with my older sister’s birthday because we were a day apart and since she was older it was always more “her” party and I’d get mostly forgotten. My grandma would always take the time to make us each our own cake though and it was the one thing that made me feel special. God I miss her so much and her incredible banana cakes. Anyway, I hope you continue to bake for your nephew. It’ll be something he’ll look back on and smile about.

    My kid just had a switch themed birthday party and I’m really mad I didn’t think of this.

    However, I did do the dumb dad shit where I gave him mariokart world and donkey Kong and when he said “does that mean you got me a switch 2?!” I said “no, don’t these work on switch 1?”

    Then he did his best job to not be disappointed as hell and was willing to go try if the games would work on switch 1. Then i gave him his switch 2 and he lost his mind.
