🥒 Tzatziki Sauce Recipe
Ingredients (makes ~2 cups):
1 cup Greek yogurt (full-fat, strained)
1 medium cucumber (grated, excess water squeezed out)
2–3 garlic cloves (finely minced or grated)
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp fresh lemon juice (or white wine vinegar)
1–2 tbsp fresh dill (chopped)
Salt, to taste
Black pepper, to taste (optional)
Instructions:
Prepare cucumber: Peel (optional), grate, then squeeze out as much liquid as possible using a cheesecloth or clean towel. This keeps the sauce thick and creamy.
Mix base: In a medium bowl, combine Greek yogurt, olive oil, lemon juice, and garlic.
Add cucumber & herbs: Stir in grated cucumber and fresh dill. Mix well.
Season: Add salt (and pepper if you like) to taste. Adjust lemon or garlic depending on preference.
Chill & serve: Cover and refrigerate at least 30 minutes for flavors to blend.
Serving ideas:
As a dip with pita bread or veggie sticks
On gyros, souvlaki, or grilled meats
As a refreshing side for roasted veggies or fish
