They’re just a little bit tan! A few less mins in the oven next time

More importantly – how do they taste?

this literally looks good. peoples expectations are so skewed by all the perfected instagram food pics

Looks great! Sugar cookies turn dark pretty quickly so maybe a little lower temp or a couple less minutes next time and you’ll pretty much be exactly there.

I really like toasted shortbread, my sugar cookies too, delish

  5. Yours look great and I would eat them immediately. Don’t skew your expectations based on perfectly-prepared food pictures on the internet.

This is perfect. If I was eating 8 in one go (a likely scenario) i’d appreciate the flavour change. They’re definitely not burnt.

OP slightly more golden brown actually tastes nice! If you repeat this recipe again, maybe you can reduce bake time by 2-3 minutes. And stack the cookie sheet on top of another so the bottoms don’t burn

    shortbread : 3:2:1.

3 parts (by weight) flour, 2 parts butter, 1 part sugar. (granulated).

mix any two quite well, add the third, and combine to you have a cumbly mix. if its overly crumbly, add a teaspoon of water.

litterally. you can cream the butter and sugar, you can dox the butter into the flour, or you can combine flour and sugar, and work the butter through.

spread out to a pleasant thickness, prick with a fork if you want, sprinkle with pretty looking sugar, and bake in a moderate oven till dry and *just* going brown.

that said, what you’ve got there looks like it has an urgent appointment with this cup of tea.

They look good! Just a little crispy but there’s nothing wrong with that :))

A cooler temperature and longer bake. You’re basically trying to bake them without letting the sugar colour them too much

shortbread is tough as one minute it is lilly white and the next they are burnt. Those look great for the first time. I’d still dip those in my tea.

Omg. Yours looks amazing. I want to grab one right now and top with raspberry jam

Don’t be so dramatic, you’ve seen what a real disaster looks like.

  14. I personally prefer yours! They look fantastic! I just want to pour a coffee and eat that entire plate of them

  15. dangerously_aloof

Dip that in some milk and it will melt in your mouth🥴🥴🥵🥵

  16. These look great, just a tough tanned. They’ll taste wonderful. Just cook a little less or at a slightly lower temp next time.

If you want to dress these up, melt some chocolate and dip one end or cover them.

The edges are a smidge over baked but the whole thing is going do be delicious, especially with the perfectly golden brown centers. Yum.

  18. Okay I like your golden shortbread too (although I also like a nice blond shortbread, I don’t discriminate), but I gotta ask,

Wtf you doing on r/breadit? Just cuz it’s called shortbread don’t make it bread.

  19. Klinky1984

I honestly like things a little extra toasted.

  20. Great work! The shape and color are right on the cusp! Start with fridge or even freezer cold shortbreads and they will keep their shape and gold up just perfectly.
