DES PERES, Mo. — A Mediterranean fast-casual restaurant chain plans its first St. Louis-area location.
Cava, a restaurant chain serving Mediterranean fast-casual and finer-dining meals that is chaired by former Panera Bread leader and Au Bon Pain founder Ron Shaich, plans to open a location in Des Peres, according to plans submitted to the city.
The existing space at 12340 Manchester Road, inside the Des Peres Corners shopping center, will be converted into a restaurant, according to the filings. The shopping center, which is close to the West County Center mall, will also soon house one of the first St. Louis-area locations of trendy chicken chain Dave’s Hot Chicken.
The chain only has one other current Missouri location, in Lee’s Summit, according to its website. Cava did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The chain said earlier this year that it plans to open 60 restaurants this year, including an expansion in the Midwest that started with Indianapolis.
