Surveillance video captured what happened at this Houston food truck park Friday night, and now neighbors who have been complaining for years want it shut down.
HOUSTON — Galleria-area residents are calling for the permanent shutdown of the Galleria Food Truck Park after a shooting Friday night that left one man wounded, marking the second violent incident at the location in two years.
The shooting occurred at approximately 11:30 p.m. Friday at the food truck park, according to surveillance video shared exclusively with KHOU 11 News. The footage shows a man shooting another man multiple times before fleeing the scene with others. The victim survived the attack.
Houston police are investigating the incident as a robbery and are still searching for four suspects.
“That’s the second shooting that we’ve had in two years and that’s maybe ten feet away from Chimney Rock Drive,” said Shelton Bartt, a Galleria-area resident who has been documenting problems with the food truck park for nearly a year.
The latest violence has prompted Houston City Council Member Edward Pollard to call for immediate action to close the establishment.

“Enough is enough. We’ve talked to the property management and the ownership. Too many times,” Pollard told KHOU 11. “I think it has now escalated to where we should be able to go and get an emergency injunctive declaration from the court to say this is a property that has habitual violations and habitual violent acts, and we should be able to shut it down.”
The food truck park has grown increasingly popular over recent years, but neighbors say the rise in popularity has brought ongoing safety and quality-of-life issues to their community. Residents report frequent problems beyond the violent incidents.
“I’ve lost count of the number of 311 calls that we’ve made as neighbors,” Bartt said, adding that “public urination is almost a daily occurrence.”
The park was previously the site of violence in August 2023, when four people were shot at the location.
The park’s operator disputes the police account of Friday night’s shooting, claiming it stemmed from a gambling argument among men who were not customers of the food truck vendors. However, the operator maintains that the property itself is not to blame for the incidents.
None of the food truck vendors agreed to speak on camera about the situation, and none had heard about the potential closure of the park.
Despite differing accounts of what sparked the latest violence, Council Member Pollard maintains that the park has become a public safety hazard that needs to be addressed.
“They need to shut them down because it’s a menace to public safety,” Bartt said, echoing what neighbors say they have been telling the city for years.
