Felix Lüdenbach is the first Regional Wine King at the Ahr. This is reported among others by the online magazine About Drinks. The 28-year-old prevailed in the final of the competition against four female competitors.
The candidates had to answer ten expert questions from the wine industry, wine politics, and wine tourism. Additionally, they had to complete a blind tasting of two wines and a professional interview. The jury consisted of 40 experts from the regional wine industry, politics, and gastronomy, as well as representatives from sponsors and the former German Wine Queens from the Ahr, Mandy Gieler and Eva Lanzerath.
For the first time in its 75-year history, men were also allowed to participate in the competition for the Ahr wine dignitaries this year. Felix Lüdenbach, like his female predecessors, wears a crown as the Wine King; the organizers of the competition had decided on uniform insignia for both female and male dignitaries.
Lüdenbach comes from Heimersheim, a district of Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler. Here, he became the first local wine king in 2024. A year earlier, he was the first male companion of the wine queen as a squire at the local wine festival. The new Ahr Wine King works as an educator in a daycare center in Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler and is also active in the carnival.
Together with the new Ahr Wine Princess Katharina Bongart (in the photo 2nd from the left), Lüdenbach will represent the Ahr wine region regionally and nationally for one year. As the Regional Wine King, he will also participate in the election for the German Wine Majesty in the fall.
