Hello, hello, and welcome to
Storytime and Cooking with Forsi. Today, we’re using the Instant Pot
to make Chili with my sister Gillian. We call the dish Gilli’s Chili.
Turn on the Instant Pot and place it on the Sauté setting
Add a little bit of oil to the Instant Pot and allow it to get hot.
Add the ground beef Allow it to brown slightly,
stirring to break up the meat. Meanwhile, we’re going to dice
the onions and crush the garlic. I was going to help with the onions, but
my sister claims she does it better, so… The ground beef is now slightly brown. We’re going to drain the excess water from
the meat and pour it into a separate bowl. Add Olive oil to the Instant Pot, followed
by the onions and the garlic. Keep stirring continuously until the onions become translucent.
Mmmm, it’s starting to smell good! It’s sizzling! Now, let’s add season salt, black pepper, Italian
seasoning, smoked paprika, cumin, cayenne pepper, and a bit of hot chili powder, which is our
main ingredient, and stir to prevent sticking. Gill says “Fors, all these are going
to bring out the flavour nicely.” Pour in a can of beer. The alcohol is going
to burn off, and you will be left with a nice earth undertone. When you do this, ensure
that you use a wooden spoon to scrape the bottom of the pan to prevent sticking. If not,
the Instant Pot will give you an error message. Add tomato paste to the simmering
pot and allow the liquid to thicken. Add a generous amount of cocoa
powder and stir until well combined. Add the ground beef to the pot
and mix it up to blend all the seasoning, followed by the beef broth.
At this point, Gill looks at me and says, “Fors, don’t worry, all of it will come together.”
Add the beans, diced tomatoes, and tomato sauce, and leave the diced tomatoes at the top.
Add the red pepper flakes. This can also be added later, to taste, then cover the IP or Instant Pot.
At this point, we cancel the sauté option and switch to the pressure cook feature and
set the time to eighteen minutes. 18. After that, cancel the pressure cook
feature and select the keep warm feature. Release the pressure, stir the IP, and add
seasoning to taste along with more seasoned salt. Turn on the Instant Pot to the Saute feature
for a few minutes until the pot simmers Then add the brown sugar
and stir until it dissolves. Voila! I present Gilli’s Chili!
