I’ve been getting into tinned fish lately and decided to visit an Asian grocery store and King Soopers. Pleasantly surprised with the Asian store inventory and got the eel, baby clams, regular sardines, and minced crab. King Soopers selection was pretty good too they had these smoked oysters in different “flavors” but ended up buying the garlic butter smoked oysters. Also bought the chicken of the sea sardines in Louisiana hot sauce because I haven’t had Louisiana hot sauce before.

I’ll probably try the roasted eel first and mix some of the minced crab with hot rice with some fried egg. Which one would you try first and how?

When I get a haul, I try the ones I think are mostly likely to be disappointing first. The one I think will be the best, I save for last. Sometimes, the one I think will be disappointing ends up being my favorite and I wish I’d saved it! But you have to start somewhere. 🙂

Louisiana brand hot sauce is one of my favorite brands of hot sauce, but I’ve never tried that kind of sardine. Let us know how it is! That eel looks super tasty, too. I would probably save that one for last and put it over pineapple fried rice.

I’d do the eel and then would feel disappointed that I only got one.

I’d say the fried clams then the oysters then the eel…

Does anyone eat the minced crab in spices straight up? I always thought it was best as an ingredient in a dish

Just a heads up, the minced crab is used as an ingredient in a Vietnamese soup and is pretty strong on spices.
