Hello all!

Welcome back to my culinary journey through the Nordics. This was technically the first dinner we enjoyed after we landed in Oslo.

The dinner was on track to be a top 5 meal but sadly couldn't reach those heights. The first 6 courses were amazing, you would bite into a course and taste 3 different waves of flavors, it was incredible.

The problem came when we reached the main fish and meat dish. The fish course was tasty but incredibly rich and because of this, the portion was way too large and was a struggle to finish. This was followed up with a sadly mediocre lamb dish, the follow up lamb dish was great but the two misses really drained the momentum and excitement from the dinner.

The desert courses were excellent and the staff were really friend.

My only other point of criticism is we ended up doing 4 juice pairs throughout the trip and Maaemo had by far the most mediocre one, which really stung because it was like 600 for the pair of us.

    nice photos!

on an different note, it’s hard for me to relate when people complain about having too much food or the portion sizes being too large. i personally wouldn’t count the fish course as a miss if it was delicious but just too much food

Did you find it odd that they don’t play any music in the dining room? When I ate there I felt as though I was eating inside a mausoleum.

A few years ago I had an apple and scallop dish here that may still be my top dish of all time.

Good pics and thanks for putting the title of the dish on each photo. Makes for a way better viewing experience.

One of my favorites, been twice but neither times had the lamb. One time it was squab and the other time duck. Do agree it is a lot of food.

The upstairs with the open kitchen that’s almost completely silent is so impressive. You can just tell how choreographed every step is.
