AVON, Ohio — When owners George and Elizabeth Goodman opened In Forno in 2015, they helped give the suburbs a taste of authentic, Neapolitan-style pizza.
Now, the Goodmans are saying goodbye, as they’ve sold the pizzeria at 35840 Chester Road to new ownership, effective July 22. The restaurant closed after the July 4 holiday to begin the transition.
“This is way more than a little pizzeria,” George said. “It’s a place where we are part of the community.”
While the ownership is changing, locals can be assured that In Forno pizza isn’t going anywhere. The new owners have no plans to change the name, menu or vibe of the restaurant. George and his staff plan on to stick around for a few months to help aid in the transition and teach their classic recipes.
“No changes whatsoever,” George said. “We’ll make sure they’re going to succeed.”
In Forno was the Goodmans’ first restaurant, but it won’t be their last. George has been working for a few years on a new concept on Broadway Avenue in Lorain. While he won’t disclose the name or concept yet, it will be totally different than In Forno.
“Usually every 10 years, I’m changing things,” he said of the transition.
However, he and his family are grateful for the relationships they’ve been able to build with customers throughout the years over hand-crafted pies.
“It gave us way more than I ever thought,” George said.
