LOWHILL TWP., Pa. – A new destination for chilled treats is now open in Lehigh County.

The Tin Rooster Creamery, featuring premium, made-on-site ice cream, opened Thursday, Sept. 18, at 7207 Kernsville Road in Lowhill Township.

“Bring your friends, bring your sweet tooth and lets kick off our very first night with scoops of fun,” an announcement on the business’ Facebook page.

The creamery is offering 24 flavors, including 20 staples such as chocolate, vanilla and cookies and cream, and four rotating, seasonal options such as pumpkin cheesecake and caramel apple, owner Buddy Wessner said.

The hand-dipped, premium ice cream is served in your choice of cone or dish, and specialty sundaes also are available.

“The ice cream’s all homemade with fresh, local ingredients,” Wessner said.

The Tin Rooster Creamery is part of a larger operation, The Tin Rooster Farm Fresh Market, a new venture from the family behind B. Wessner Farms.

B. Wessner Farms is a premier red angus cattle breeder and grower of premium quality horse hay, sweet corn and other products, and the sweet corn is already available at the market, Wessner said.

The market will soon also carry other local goods, including seasonal local produce, red angus beef raised right on the farm, local baked goods, honey and preserves.

“We hope to have the local fruits, vegetables and meats available by this weekend, but they’ll be available in the coming weeks for sure,” Wessner said.

Now in its fifth generation of farming, B. Wessner Farms currently farms and grazes cattle on over 450 acres across Berks and Lehigh counties.

“Rooted in five generations of farming in Lehigh County, The Tin Rooster is more than just a market — it’s a destination for local meats, produce, and family fun,” a news release states.

For its opening week, The Tin Rooster Creamery is operating 1-8 p.m. Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Wessner said. Regular hours will be announced soon on the business’ Facebook page.
