Here’s Gordon Ramsay’s scallops with cauliflower puree on minimum wage. Only it’s not scallops, but king oyster mushrooms. Ain’t nobody got enough side hustles to afford fresh scallops in this economy. Close your eyes, drink a bottle of vodka, and you won’t be able to tell the difference anyway. But anyone with a bachelor’s degree in flipping burgers or higher can afford cauliflowers, especially if they’re frozen. And I know frozen cauliflowers have less flavor than wet cardboard, but butter and cream solve everything. This dish accidentally became vegetarian, and I’m sorry for offending Gordon Ramsey, but this thing was absolutely delicious. [Music]

you know its an american short the moment he starts yapping about "can't afford*
King mushrooms are upper middle class at worst. Ain't nobody buying these on min wage
Shopping at coles just feeds the entity known to science as Curtis Stone
BLOWN AWAY! YUP😢
amazing minimum wage recipe, so simple and i can tell from the ingredients tho that it tastes good. id prolly sprinkle some garlic pepper sauce on it but thats personal preference
Maybe huge scallops are expensive but in Miami I can get a bag of them what's expensive about them ? I mean even shrimp isn't too bad
Blend your cauliflower more so it's smooth!
How dare you assume I can afford a knife, a cutting board, a pan, and a god damn stove!
looks amazing
I can’t afford king oysters in this economy either 😭🙏
This is bad. Not the cooking but the idea substitution is good. Trust me if you really wanted something bad enough you would get it. Those who substitute are weak.
What do you mean frozen cauliflower has less flavour than wet cardboard?
21 Seasons of Hell's Kitchen and I just learned what scallops are
Like if vodka was cheap..
to be fair, mushrooms are closer to meat than plants so it is chill.
Scallops are cheaper tho…
Yeah except frozen cauliflower is just as flavorful as fresh and is harvested when in season
WE'RE GETTING THROUGH THE RECESSION WITH THIS ONE!!!
Cool and all but low-end scallops are about the same price as king oyster mushrooms so you're not saving much if any at all.
Live near the ocean $9.99 for a pound of fresh scallops at the fishmonger
This dish is technically not vegetarian though. Mushrooms are not plants, they're fungi, and they're some pretty smart little lads.
Vegetarian dishes are okay if they're accidental or incidental.
cute of him to assume that your degree dictates income instead of connections
well mushrooms arent plants or animals theyre both lol. also butter aint vegetarion my guy lol
Someone outside of Turkey claiming their economy is bad bugs me.
That muschroom is more expensive at this point
Bottle of vodka? In this economy? 😂
I don’t give a fuck
hearing “ain’t” in a British accent is so jarring lol
I can get scallops for like $10, it’s not that much.
Ramsay would actually probably like this.
Mushrooms instead of meat buhbye
The mushrooms should be seasoned with curry and there should be a raisin and capper sauce purée to be accurate.
frozen scallops are cheaper than the shrooms
So I could either spend $8 on a pack of scallops, or i could spend $30 and get not the mushrooms, but the stuff to grow the mushrooms shipped. How practical
Depending on where you live scallops are actually cheap
Is any of that actually food?
bro i bought a pound of scallops at Win Dixie for 6.99
i got two bags of free scallops from a food pantry church when i was down on money. people just dont know about the resources and alternatives for survival.
No wonder scallops are unaffordable if you waste half of the puree on the plate.
Damn, that’s a grainy puree
cauliflower puree is… surprisingly not that bad. I've used it, and it's rather tasteless and the texture is alright. I HATE cauliflower, so– it was a nice change
A chef is someone who isn't afraid to use more butter than you.
As someone that’s allergic to bivalves. Love the use of mushrooms!
You wasted 25% of the mushroom and 75% of the caulibuttercream for presentation. Just sayin
