I (F21) started my "first" job in a kitchen (excluding fast food) and made my first salad for an Employee meal! I'm low-key proud of myself….!!

Hell yeah! Looks delicious, what kind of dressing we doing?

Seeing this on r/kitchenconfidential , I was ready to give some snarky, mean-spirited comment, but seeing OP is proud of it for staff meal, my heart kind of melted and I feel like a dickhead for even thinking it.

Looks like salad! No complaints here, 10/10

I always loved making salads for family meal when I worked garde manger.
Sometimes you’d just throw something together and then chef would ask what we put in that vinaigrette.
Sometimes you’d make something quick and shamed/ragged on if it was subpar. Not in mean way, but in like a challenging creativity way.

This is one of my old reliables for “I don’t know what I want but it’s almost rush and I can’t do it hungry” meals but I add a couple chicken fingers or a grilled piece, the protein helps get you through the hectic part. Oh and no ranch I hate the stuff.

That’s literally lettuce with an afterthought of tomato.

Looks great!

Is that shaved fennel I spy?

Looks awesome, very nice cut on the onions – thin to win.
geekolojust
Let me try the ranch you made! 👀
pebbles_temp
Crunchy greens with a nice creamy dressing really hits the spot!
Red1Monster
It actually looks really tasty, i like the red tomatoes on the vibrant green salad, and the rustic touch of the wooden bowl

I feel like the family meal salads (if you get anything green at all) are never as fresh as these, mostly “use what’s about to go bad” so I love this!
TheRancolman
Nothing fancy, but a solid garden salad. Now, tell me about that dressing. 😋
PoorManRichard
Deliciously simple, well done! Don’t forget the salt.

I preferred torn, lettuce to cut, unless you have a huge quantity to make. Also, consider using larger pieces, it’s faster to cut, and makes it much easier to eat.

#Heck yes may I have one Chef 🥺

Good job OP! Keep it up!
ChefArtorias
You used very fresh lettuce 👍
Be nice if there were some other ingredients.

Just please tell me that the dressing in the back isn’t meant for the salad. Those ratios are fucked…otherwise fuck yeah.
I hate to see an unnecessarily complicated salad. They should highlight ingredients and make someone feel better after eating it. Looks like you ignored food trends and did the damned thing. Well done. Now just work on your dressings. A quick vinaigrette that you can add or subtract ingredients from. should always be in your back pocket.
