NORTHVILLE, Mich. – A popular French pastry shop is now welcoming guests to its sixth location in metro Detroit.
MK Cannelle located at 156 N. Center St. in Northville opened Sept. 19. It was founded by Matti Knio and is known for French pastries like cakes, tarts, a variety of croissants and baguettes. The shops also serve coffee, sandwiches and salads.

According to MK Cannelle’s website, Knio found his love for baking at a young age while working in a bakery. He graduated from Academie de Versailles in France as a Master Artisian and later moved to the U.S. and became head pastry chef at Michigan’s Ritz Carlton.
In 2003, Knio launched Cannelle Café in Michigan. Two years later he launched Golden Wheat Bakehouse in Warren which provides many breads, buns, croissants and other products to metro Detroit businesses.
MK Cannelle has locations in Ann Arbor, Birmingham, Detroit, Farmington, and Keego Harbor. A Rochester location is “coming soon” according to its website.
