The works were introduced by the Undersecretary of State for Culture, Gianmarco Mazzi. He concluded the Minister of Agriculture Francesco Lollobrigida, connecting from South Africa.
“Italian cuisine is worth €251 billion a year worldwide. One in five restaurants serves Italian dishes., but we are faced with the very damaging phenomenon ofItalian Sounding, with an estimated damage of approximately 120 billion euros – declares Mazzi –. The important UNESCO recognition would strengthen the protection of our cuisine and the entire supply chain at an international level”.
Minister Lollobrigida underlined: “We have transformed Made in Italy into a brand that means beautiful, good and quality. With this initiative, ‘Vai Italia’ supports the candidacy of Italian cuisine as a World Heritage Site.”.
Mogol explained: “I wrote the song with Oscar Prudente expressing theaffection for my country, the most beautiful country in the world”. Al Bano added: “The most beautiful thing was singing with the choirs of Caivano and Antoniano. May Italy win the challenge for this extraordinary recognition. We deserve it!”
Brother Giampaolo Cavalli, director of the Antoniano, emphasized the social value of the project: “Every day we prepare good food in the soup kitchens for those in need. The meeting with Mogol, Al Bano and Fio Zanotti it was one great opportunity for collaboration and storytelling”.
Finally, it was announced that “Vai Italia” will be presented by Mara Venier on Sunday 21 September at “Domenica In”On that same day, the whole of Italy will celebrate “Sunday Lunch”, with tables set up in the main squares to support the candidacy.
